High-resolution Defect Imaging

BrightSpot offers a wide range of systems with Electroluminescence (EL) and/or Photoluminescence (PL) capabilities with applications spanning the complete PV value chain from R&D to product development to manufacturing to field testing.

EL/PL Imaging Systems

Reveal hidden defects such as cell cracks, cold solder/weld joints, high contact resistance, shunts, and poor bulk/surface passivation. These tools are optimized for different stages of PV inspection, from cells to panels, and from lab to launchpad.

PL Applications

Uses safe green or red LED light source and a high resolution PL camera within a lightproof enclosure, to obtain contactless images of partially and fully processed cells and minimodules;

Non-contact PL imaging can even be applied to partially processed cells, while comparing EL to PL images allows the user to differentiate between series-resistance and bulk/surface quality effects.
